[Vwdiesel] '85 Jetta water pump

On a surprisingly rare pleasant day here in Texas (I'm 3 miles from
Cowboys Stadium if you've been watching the ice news here), I set out to
replace the water pump and the timing belt system on my '85 Jetta TD.
When I bought all of the parts, I bought the entire pump, both halves
with the intention to replace the whole thing. I got through the
obligatory antifreeze shower, but I'm stalled trying to pull the a/c
bracket. I found the two bolts under the a/c compressor, but there's
obviously at least one more bolt somewhere...... I'd really appreciate
it if someone could tell me that the extra bolt(s) isn't under the
injection pump requiring it to be removed as well. I'm going to have to
re-time it anyways, but I don't want to have to REALLY re-time it. I
don't even think I have a functioning gear puller anymore to take it out.

Second question: the reason I'm pulling all of this out is that if the
weather is at all cool, the temperature gauge barely leaves the peg.
It's centered on warm days. I presumed that for some reason my
thermostat was stuck open. When I pulled it out, it was, in fact,
closed. Any ideas as to why it would be running so cold? Could it be
opening really early or something? It's not a waste of effort on the
thermostat--the water pump is leaking as well. Thus the above question.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get it together again before the highs drop back
into the 20's later this week. I know that doesn't sound like much to
y'all up north, but with the summers I live through, I DESERVE a good
winter.
