  There is sort of a trick to assembling those things.  When you tighten 
down 
the diaphragm nut, you have to make sure it doesn't twist and thus lines up 

correctly with all the bolt holes.  Seems like tightening, loosening, then 
retightening and making sure it's lined up, makes a world of difference on 
how long they last.
