When the orchard bought 3 Ford pickups (6.9) they broke them in according
to
the book.  Easy, slow, etc, etc.  They used oil and do to this day.  As
much as
13 quarts between changes!  I got a strong recommendation for a dealer in
Morton
WA since the local dealer wasn't going to do anything for them.  After
telling him
how much it was using, the guy from the dealer said "You broke them in by
the
book didn't you?"  They told people to take it home and put an 11' camper
on it,
5 horse trailer or whatever they had that was heavy.  If they didn't have a
good
load then they recommended getting a bed full of dirt, rock, etc and taking
a
300 to 500 mile trip first thing, over hills if possible.  He said EVERY
one broken
in hard was fine, nearly all (maybe all) that were broken in easy, used
oil.  Driving
hard later didn't seem to help.
