[Vwdiesel] BEW EGR

Hi all;

TDI question - I picked up an '04 TDI Jetta last spring after I started
having oil pressure issues with my '92 Eco - took the dive into the
electronic world. Since purchase, cruise control worked, but wouldn't hold
the speed - worse against the wind, with the air on, or up a hill.

Took it to dealer mechanic in this area who diagnosed a "sticky" EGR valve,
which limits the acceleration and the small acceleration adjustments rather
than any problem with the cruise control. I left there thinking I'd replace
that valve myself, however I noticed that as I left the dealership that day
and the next few that the cruise worked and car accelerated better, but
within a week or two it slowly returned to losing speed when cruise was on.

So I ordered and replaced the EGR valve, and everything worked well. For
about 2 weeks, and now its returning to losing speed on the cruise. Last
night I unplugged / replugged in the electrical connection to the EGR,
thinking that like many old electrical connections, maybe something loses
contact over a few weeks. After this, the cruise and car worked better
again.

So does that sound feasible? The connector looks good, solid. There's no
corrosion on it. They're very tiny pins, so hard to tell if I could bend
the surrounding slot sides in to get better contact. Anyone else run into
this, or have another thought? Anything else that might be making the EGR
goofy that I should check?

Thanks for any feedback!!

Chris
