[Vwdiesel] PS belt

I have copies of the 1980, 1981, and 1982 Owner's Manual. Only the 1982 manual shows a power steering v-belt. For factory a/c and no power steering; for factory a/c and power steering 9.5 x 700 mm and 9.5 x 850 mm for no a/c and with power steering. HTH

What is the correct circumference (length) of the belt that drives the power
steering pump on an 81' rabbit diesel pickup? I have a Gates belt on it now
that is

10 mm X 624 mm and the adjustment is out all the way. I tried a Gates that
is 10 mm X 614 mm and could not get it on with the adjustment all the way
in. I want to switch to a Continental belt. Is 617 mm the correct length?
