[Vwdiesel] Still fighting my IP

I agree with Roger's suggestion, and urge you to consider it. Also consider
a little heat, perhaps just the increment of 100 degrees to the shaft of the
IP. If the pump isn't leaking, I would do it with a soft flame with a
spark ignite propane torch. That little bit of expansion may help things
free up.
Also I would lube the area with a very light penetrant, such as the Liquid
Wrench classic formula. Just a drop around the sprocket. After the gentle
heat.
Using something small like a tack hammer works just fine. If it was a front
end part, perhaps a 3" hammer, but for an IP, just something to set up some
sonic action.
(BTW, for tapered tierod ends, a hammer to the side does wonders.)
If you can avoid destroying the sprocket, I would prefer that. Afterall, it
has a good fit. (grin)

On this Kubvan there is only two inches between the pulley and the side panel. I tried going from wood wedges to home made puller and than onto more violent methods but the dang thing will not release. I know the pump must have been off once before by a PO as the retaining bracket for the inner and lower mounting bolt was not under the rear bolt. I guess the shaft/pulley bolt was over torqued and this thing is really planted on the taper.

I also think heat is not an option as the idea of using a torch in a tight area on a diesel soaked pump. At this time pump and pulley are disposable.
