I've had a problem with the front brakes dragging. Last weekend I took off
the calipers and cleaned and greased the slider pins. Even though one side
was severely worn more than the other side and had a torn piston boot, I
thought the problem was solved. Thursday the brakes were dragging again.
Today, I changed both calipers and installed new pads. Now, I've noticed
that when I use the brakes, the brake light doesn't go off. If I pull on the
brake pedal, the brake lights go off even though I can't feel the brake
pedal move when I pull on it. Would the brake light on/off problem be a
spring attached to the pedal or is this an indication of a master cylinder
that is too weak to return the pedal to the lights off position? So far,
since I put the new calipers on, the brakes don't feel like they are
dragging. I'll have to wait till Monday when I get a longer run to see if
the wheels are still getting hot.
