Switches are pretty easy in A1 and I think A2 as well. Easiest to pull the whole aluminum piece out sometimes. Some you have to in order to get to the screw holding the switch in. A4 is REALLY easy.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Starting issues 91 Jetta TD

OK, this morning when I went to start the jetta it didn't do anything other
han the HVAC fan was on 2 and when I turned the key to start it stopped
unning but nothing else happened. The radio kept playing as well. This
as happened only a few times in the past 4 months. Today was the only day
hat it wouldn't start after turning the key off and back on again. This
ime it took four try's before it started.

No other noises or anything like that, it is kind of like the ignition
witch is not making contact to excite the starter. But when it does it
tarts just fine no other issues. I don't think it is the battery or the
tarter because it starts like normal.

I found out in the Bentley repair manual, in section 11 page 33, 34 the
emoval procedures for the ignition switch. Looks pretty straight forward.
nyone accomplish this and is there anything to look out for? I can get a
ew switch from Car Quest for $12.

Thanks,
Nick
