timing depends on the pump you are using, are you using a 1.6TD pump or a 1.9TD pump?
Running hot, is this oil temp or coolant temp?
Guessing coolant temp.
Look for a clog in radiator, vanagons seldome run hot coolant temps because of the miles of cooling capacity they have.
Other things to check:
Do you have the correct plumbing pipes goes to correct side of the water pump and oil cooler, the picture in the bentley is very hard to follow, I have tried a few times.
Correct water pump blades, there are a few different types of blades, so plastic aftermarket ones are not sufficent to move enough coolant
not much else can effect cooling.

Hi all, I have machined my AAZ crankshaft to accept the newer style crank
timing pulley and installed a new timing belt and tensioner. I only have
the Bentley for my Westy with the 1.6 na as reference. What is the optimum
timing for my AAZ? I'm also wrestling with which way to tackle my running
on the hot side issue. Thanks!
