[Vwdiesel] Injection pump timing?

I'm using the injection pump that came with the AAZ. The water pump is
newish and of all metal construction, it was used in the 1.6 na with a
single V belt conversion I purchased from Scott at turbo vans and not had
any issues on the 1.6? The oil cooler hoses come out of the main coolant
hoses. I wonder if my timing is retarded thus adding more fuel/heat to
achieve the power/speed desired? Planning on getting the dimensions of my
radiator shroud to see if I can upgrade the cooling fans and a lower temp
fan switch.
