I think that would be easier to do then disconnecting the big C-clips on the Exhaust Manifold toilet bowl connector......

Seems like when I replaced all the stuff on a MK11 Golf, I didn't even think of unhooking the exhaust from the manifold.  I undid it from the back of the car, which allowed it to drop and move to the side enough to get at all the parts.
