I envy you at actually having time to work on projects. Too many directions for me anymore and little free time. Most of it gets spent trying to decide on what i have time to actually work on. By the time I get close to a decision, the time's gone. :-P
It's not really all that hot here yet, A bit unseasonal (early) and sudden though. It's the humidity we've had that really kills me (as well as the heat since I nearly do not sweat). The advantage though is that a little A/C and I really feel and enjoy it! :-)

Subject: [Vwdiesel] bad injection pump

When I started the GTD project, I always had in mind to have the pump rebuilt by
iles up in Canada. My thinking was that this would take place some time in the
uture. Well, a few weeks ago, I noticed that the car was having trouble
tarting, especially when at temperature. it would turn over but it just didm't
eem to be getting fuel and then it would suddenly "catch" and start normally
ith NO black smoke (a clue to it not getting fuel). It progressively got worse
ntil it would run the battery down. Out of frustration today, I installed my
pare, non-GTD but turbo pump (thanks Bryan B!) to see if the problem might be
he pump, sure enough, it started (after a fews minutes while the line bled) and
ow starts on the first 3 or 4 turns of the starter. My thinking is that the
ift pump or the main pressure pump has gone out in the GTD pump. Oh well, so
t takes a trip to Canada in a few weeks. I also have been working hard on the
/C. This being Texas, I simply cannot survive without it. Well after
eplacing virtually everything except the compressor, I have to replace the
ompressor!!!! Oh, well, that will make EVERYTHING in the system, except the
oses new so I expect it will eventually freeze my butt off by the time I am
inished. I have the car about half sanded and primered in getting it ready for
aint but first I need to get it inspected and licensed. Hopefully this week.
ll this AND I am working on my 68 beetle too!!! Oh the fun of summer, I only
ave about 8 weeks to really dig in a get these two cars going before classes
tart again. I try to do most of the work in the mornings when it is relatively
ool. Today it only got to about 93 but I really feel for you guys in the far
est with the temps well above 100. We have 103 and 104 here the other day but
othing like 115-120 like they are seeing out west. Take it easy, drink
lectrolytes and take MULTIPLE breaks. Hayden
