Quattro wheel bearings

First of all, I'd like to thank Ti Kan, Eliot Lim, Peter Hill and Glen Powell
for responding to my previous post titled "Newcomer's questions". I really
appreciate your help.

Here's another question that I have. How difficult is it to change the
front wheel bearings on an Audi 5000 Turbo Quattro (mine is a 1987)? The
Bentley shop manual indicates that special tools are required to
pull out the old bearing and press in the new one. Can one make do with
pullers (hub/pulley/...) that can be rented from commercial rental places?
Has anyone changed their wheel bearings? If so, can you share your
experiences? I have changed several conventional tapered roller wheel
bearings on other cars but never these "pressed-in" type. Is this any
more tricky than hammering in/out (carefully of course) the races on a
typical roller bearing? Or, is this job best left to the pros?
