Ugly Delco temperature control system

Anybody out there can guide me on how to replace the old Delco
temperature control system with the new one ?  The old temp. control
system looks out of place;  it does not match the interior of any
Audi.

I called the dealer but of course they're no help.  Has anybody looked
into such project.  I am an Electrical Engineer which gives me the
extra false sense of security to destroy my air conditioning system
forever.
