If you haven't changed your air filter in some time, I suggest you change
it first before tinkering with the adjustment. As John mentioned, it is
most likely a rich fuel mixture. The oxygen sensor is supposed to detect
a rich mixture condition and signal the computer to compensate. If the
air filter replacement doesn't do the trick, then I'd suspect the oxygen
sensor. If the oxygen sensor on your car hasn't been replaced, it probably
has gone bad in 8 years since your car is an '85 model year.
