Porsche will introduce the Turbo version of its new 911 Carrera model in
1995 as a'96 model, and the word is that the turbo boxer engine will be
providing power to ALL FOUR WHEELS..... (genesis-Audi Quattro, Ed.)
....all-wheel-drive will allow the Turbo to properly put its 430 HP on
the pavement.....will give away only 20 HP to the famed (959, Ed.) $300,000
supercar.....six-speed....leather-airconditioning.....less than $125,000.....

VW has unveiled its all-new Polo, its entry-level car that it's counting
on to boost the company's European sales. And while VW insiders say there are
no plans to bring the Polo here, they admit that VW has promised a new entry-
level vehicle for the American market by '98. While that vehicle could be
based on the Concept I that made its debut earlier that year at the Detroit
show, there's been no "go" from Wolfsburg on the Beetle-for-the-'90s, and
thus a US version of the Polo remains a possibility.

THEY'RE BACK?
Did someone say VW's back? DUH! The new VR6 GTi's a real crowd pleaser, but
haven't they noticed the Corrado or Passat or Jetta VR6s that have come along
the last few years? A shortage of cars that please DRIVERS has not been one
of VW's big problems lately.

VW TOPS FORD
The VW Golf has surpassed the Ford Model T as the third most produced car
of all time: Golf No. 15,007,034 rolled off the Wolfsburg assembly plant
last week. VW also occupies first place with the Beetle, at 22 million.....

COMPETITION THIS WEEK, Autoweek, June 13, '94
Paul Choiniere and co-driver Jeff Becker came out on top in round five of the
SCCA PRO Rally Series event at Wellsboro, Pa. Choiniere and Becker, driving an
Audu S2, topped the Bruno Kreibich-John Buffum Audi Quattro and the Merril-
Wickens Ford Escort-Cosworth.

In as SCCA PRO Rally, Paul Chioniere expanded his lead from only six-tenths
of a second to more than a minute over the last two stages and won the Ojibwe
Forests event in an Audi Quattro S-2. Carl Merrill was runner-up in a Ford
Escort Cosworth.
