I, too, have had some problems with the OEM power antenna on my '86 
4000csq. What I've found is some erosion of the contacts on the relays. 
Simply disassemble, use a fine emory cloth or contact file, bend the 
frames slightly to bring the contacts to the almost touching point, and 
your antenna most probably will work fine.
