Locking the center diff definitely *DOES* improve braking, discs all
around notwithstanding.
The locked center diff distributes braking forces front-to-back and
greatly reduced the possibility of locking-up the rear wheels due to
weight transfer onto the fronts and off the rears. See one of the past
AudiWatch Updates (Tm) for a quote from a professional road-racer who
basically said that the most major benefit of Quattro drive is, in his
opinion, better braking due to the above effect.
