2 terminals on Oil Sending Unit
Phil...
It turns out that there are cars without oil pressure gauges that still
have two terminals on the pressure sender. Audi uses a "dynamic" oil
pressure sensing system on the newer cars. The one switch opens at a
very low pressure, just like any "idiot light" equipped car. The second
one actuates at a higher pressure (I'm not sure if it is N.O. or N.C.).
The computer checks this switch against the engine RPM. If the tach is
above 2500RPM (not exactly sure of the number) and the secondary switch
indicates that the pressure is below spec then the oil lamp is turned on
also. It sounds like your car does not have the dynamic pressure sensing
system or an oil pressure gauge.
