i live in rainy seattle and have gotten uniroyal 440's for my fwd corrado
G60. this is a pure, uncompromising rain tire.. even has an umbrella
embossed on the sidewall. the grooves are deep and wide which means that
there's less tread for dry cornering. the rubber compound is SBR,
something that goodyear alledgedly stole (i think there is a lawsuit in
progress) for use in their current aquatreads. unlike the aquatreads, the
440 is reasonably priced and available in VR speed rating and low
profiles.

it is fine in the dry for non-autocross cornering.. not as sharp as
the P600s that the car used to have. in the wet.. whoa... the
car rivals my 4wd audi in terms of stability and surefootedness.
i have been able to floor the gas for a passing manouver in the wet
with total confidence. and this is a souped-up car too.

probably the best and least well known rain tire you can buy.
there are other people who dislike this tire, but for my
parameters they are excellent.
