Here is the (painful) scoop:

I called Recaro to get general prices and local dealers.  They quoted
manufacturer's suggested retail price as $449 for the economy SE and
up from there.
I then called one of the local dealers, and his price was.....$449 for
the economy SE and $100 for the bracket (grand total of $1100 for a pair).

Well, that is out of my price by about $300.  I'm going to do as Ernest
suggested and check some of the places in European Car.
BTW, Peter, the SE for that price is cloth, not leather (shucks!).
