The center muffler on my 84 4000Q (123,000 mi) was leaking, so I took it to the
local muffler shop.  They say my catalytic converter is bad also, even though
it sails through the emissions test.  1) Can I delete the center muffler
without a negative result?  I have read hints of pro and con from you fellows. 
2)  They want $200+ for the catalytic converter, saying it is a special order
due to the oxygen sensor fitting.  Can someone recommend a catalytic converter
source?
