broken pwr window
Hi everyone,
I'm really glad I joined this list. I've learned so much just by
reading through the mail and I appreciate all the help I've already recieved.
OK, well here's the problem, last week my driver's side window stopped working.
I thought it was just the switch so I went down to the dealer and forked over
$24 for a new pwr window switch. I got home and popped it in and found out tha
t it wasn't the switch--something else is wrong. Does anybody know what the pr
oblem could be? The dealer refused to take back the part b/c they won't do ref
unds on electrical parts--a lesson learned the hard way--even though it was the
wrong part to begin with (it looked different). They wouldn't even swap it ou
t for the right one, which would be OK b/c the passenger side switch needs to b
e replaced.
Also, the service department wouldn't even look at my car for unde
r $50 so I could figure out what part I did indeed need. Very IRITATED at this
point, I asked for the managers name, said I'd be in touch with him soon, and
left. I think ya here me knokin' and I think I'm commin' in! Thats right, I
don't like dealing with the dealership, AT ALL!
I don't have the manuals and I'm wondering if there's an easy way
to locate the problem (i.e. not having to take the door panel off or the dash
apart). I'm hoping it's not the motor or the window regulator. Someone told
me that it is common, in these models, for the wiring to come loose or short o
ut. What to do? Hoppin' it ain't expensive. I's poor!
TIA,
Dan Hussey
