Just a note on the observations of others about the
massive crowds you see in international Pro Rally
footage......I suspect that in a lot of these countries
and locations there are not a lot of other motorsports
events around, the local Pro Rally might even be
the highpoint or largest single attraction of the year
in some of these locations. We here in the US are
totally spoiled motorsports-wise, in that on any weekend
throughtout the year, you can find hundreds of small
events and of course the big ones as well. Our spectators
in the States have an enourmous number of motorsports
event to spectate, we don't have to wait for the once-a-year
Pro Rally in our country or travel many miles into the woods
just to see a fleeting glimpse of a few Pro Rally cars blasting
by, only to move again to a new location for another
impossibly quick glimpse. Those of us in the States that
truly love the sport put up with this, as do our international
friends. For me, driving for hours and then winding my way
out into the woods, in the middle of the night, in the snow,
in freezing cold, with moose, is all part of the FUN!
