Bleeding cooling system in 5ks?

Hi:

I replaced the coolant this weekend and flushed the system with a garden hose 
in the '88 5ks I just bought.  The old coolant was brown with rust, I hope the
radiator isn't damaged.  Anyway, I couldn't find a bleed screw.  Is the 
thermotime switch inlet used for bleeding the air out?  No overheating though 
my temp gauge is still acting flaky.  It works after about 15min driving, only
gets up to half-way mark;as expected, car runs cooler than 5kcst.
