'91 200 Q vs V8 (was Trim Levels)
a few days ago, there was a thread on a '5000-like car w/ flared fender...'
some said '91 200q, others the V8. here's my id tips between these two.
small details:
>From the rear, neither car has any badges save the 4 rings. there is a
slight difference where the rear bumper cover tips meet the back of the rear
wheel-well--the transition piece is soft plastic/rubber on the 200. on the
V8?. where the 'C' pillar joins the rear fender (just aft of the rear
doors), the trim piece piece on the V8 is smooth, the 200's is grooved (kinda
like the diff between a MB 190 vs 300).
>From the front, the corner marker lites adjacent to the headlights on the US
spec V8s are white, 200s use amber (if the 200's headlamp has been changed to
the euro-light, this will be white). the V8s have their amber corner markers
in the bumper. the 200s have only the turn signals in the bumper, and they
are visible only from the front.
Inside, at least on the V8s i saw,all the gauges have numbers on them. on my
200, only the oil temp and oil pressure gauges have #s. there's also an
additional piece of wood trim at the top of the center console. V8s have a
nifty roller sun-shade for the backlight (rear window)--funny, my 200 has all
the same molding shapes in the shelf below the backlight, though no clips on
the 'C' pillars--anyone done a retrofit?
big details:
V8 has the integrated hood/front grill. 200 hood/grill looks just like the
5000t and earlier 200.
cheers,
ldt.
