Just add some extra refrigerant oil in the A/C system and noise will gradually
stop.
Some roaring is OK for an old York compressor and it does not affect its
operation.
Unfortunately when mechanics recharge your system they usually do not add any
oil since small quantities of it mixed with the freon in the can. So you have
to drive around to find somebody who has the tool to add some refrigerant oil
in your system.
