Speedo Prollum SOLVED!!!!
I DID IT!!
Who has been experiencing the dreaded "Speedo Needle Dance" Well I solved
that prollum on my car!
Seems that the speedo transducer plug on the tranny can and will......
"Fill up with water"!!! Our leaking steering racks have conspired
against us and sabotaged our speedo's. The Mineral oil (which eats the
heck out of rubber) makes the rubber boot on the sender plug loosen it's
grip on the three wires, capilary action takes over and water gets in.
If your Speedo needle starts to bounce or is totaly dead I'd check here
first. Just unplug the sensor (it's right behind the TDC and Crank
Trigger sensors on the tranny) Dry it out, check for and remove and crud
that might be in there, and then add a dab of sillycone to the top of the
rubber boot to help prevent this prollum in the future.
Later!
