Hot under the Collar....er Hood

Today I was JUST a little bored so I dug up one of my older Data
Commanders and used it to measure the Cyl Head Temp at all five plugs,
the block temp, the radiator, Underhood temp between the Rad and the
engine, Exterior Temp and finally Boost. (Hmmmm... still had 10 channels
left) What I found was not pretty.

The NORMAL temp of the motor was: CHT 210, Rad 170, Block 205, Underhood
140, Ext Temp 88 and normal boost. This was the around town average.

The High Boost Temps were UGLY: CHT 240!! Rad 180, Block 220 Underhood
150 Ext Temp 88 and 16PSI Boost. It took five min. for the Cyl Head
temps to come back to a "Normal" Reading.

To me this says we HAVE to run the 80C Theromstat. Under High Boost the
head jumped 30F the block jumped 15F while the Radiator AND Underhood
only moved 10F.

I'm going with the 80C (174F) on tuesday and I'll report back later if
this had any effect.

Later!
