Hella makes a very neat relay, with a built in spade fuse.  This would simplify the mod and make it alot neater and the fuses accessable. 

I do assume that the Hella relays would be more expensive than others, though.

I noticed this when I changed from Bosch foglights to Hellas on my old Scirocco. BTW, the Hella "kit" was more complete and of higher quality.
