Re: Controlling Turbo boost
Robert,
There are a number of electronic boost controllers out there. I
haven't installed one on a car of my own, but I have seen a bunch of
them. The best that I can tell, is the Fuzzy Logic Boost controller by
Greddy. It senses the manifold pressure and RPM, and "learns" the
resonant characteristics of your engine, so that it can maintain EXACTLY
the preset boost level at all times. I have heard of installations where
the FLBC was set to 14.5psi, and through the first few runs, the boost
spiked just a little higher than 14.5psi, but after three or four runs,
the boost would hit 14.5psi and stay there right to the redline! It
includes a digital boost gauge that reads to a tenth of a psi. It also
costs almost $800.00, so I guess it had better toast marshmallows too.
I think that the new HKS EVC III (?) has fuzzy logic built in at
a much lower price.
