Hey Chris,
Most of your car's symptoms point to a chronic fuel-air mixture problem -
bad gas-mileage, sooty exhaust, stalling. Look for vacuum leaks, have the
oxygen sensor checked, have to CO adjustment set to spec. Probably not
such an expensive problem.
