    Man, I hate asking stupid questions but I gotta know. What is a 'gear oil
    jug' and/or a 'plunger pump unit'?

The "jug' is the container that the gear oil comes in, its 
slightly larger than the quart container the engine oil comes
in, looks more like a jug...

The plunger pump unit is available from Murrays etc, about
$6.00...  well worth it when you need to fill the trans....
