Re: Summit Point QCUSA Event/ ITB Coupe GT
impressed by how "torquey" it felt. An '84 GT that had been
prepped for ITB (header and straight pipe...very loud!).
For anyone in the area that is interested (area == near enough Summit
Point, WV for a day trip), Jim Gilley and Bill Bartlett will be racing
said coupe in a 4 hour SCCA Enduro on Sunday, 24 Sep, don't know the
exact start time, but it the majority of the race will probably occur
after lunch.... I went for a ride in it on Monday, it was much faster
than my 5kcstq... (but I didn't have much turbo -- seems Ned's
modification blew my turbo-intercooler hose, so I couldn't get more
than 1.3bar measured boost.) I will be there crewing for the Audi
team. I will ask Jim what he did for his tach - I know it is not the
original one, and has the peak rpm indicator.
He is confident that he will start to get very close to the WMB 2002's
which seem to be the favorite car in ITB (often finishing 1 through 4)
This is the second year he has raced the coupe. I don't know how
far off the leading times he is in the car, but it is capable of
turning low 1:33s at Summit Point, and there is more that can be done
to the car.
I think the cost is ~$15.00 for the day, which includes access to
pretty much anywhere around the track (excluding the hot pits..)
