Brake Moan
Here's one for you folks. My '90 200T doesn't have a problem with
brakes squealing - but when backing up slowly, the left rear brake
MOANS (woooOOOOOOOooo) in a fairly deep register, perhaps about 700
Hz. What I think it is - is a pair of pads vibrating on the rotor.
But it only happens when backing up s-l-o-w-l-y and easily.
I've tried popping one mounting bolt loose and adding hi-temp pad
lube between each pad and the caliper contact surface, but it only
moderated for a day or two - and never disappeared.
One more comment - these are original rear brake pads at about 63K,
so they're about gone.
Any comments about other things to try? It's not hurting anything.
so I can live with it, but it would also be nice to stop....
TIA, colleagues.
