'89 100 with various problems
Although the three years I've owned the 100 have been the best vehicle
owning experience that I have, there are several recent or persistent
problems that I hope someone can help me with.
The 1.8 bar engine oil pressure switch is bad (per local dealer
inspection). I have the replacement part, but the location shown in
Bentley seems to be wrong. The picture on page 96.6 shows the sensor in
question right next the 0.3 bar one. In my car, the only sensors near the
0.3 bar are what I believe to be a knock sensor and a variable pressure
sensor for the gauge. Any hints on where else to look? The result of this
malfunctioning sensor/switch is a low oil pressure warning on the
multifunction display whenever the engine is above 3k RPM.
Speedometer/Odometer are on sporatically or completely off. It also
affects the MPG and range calculations. I haven't been through the full
diagnostics per Bentleys, yet. In this case I'm looking for anyone who's
had a similar problem and can suggest a probable cause.
The final major problem is the worst. For the last year (approx.) the
clearcoat has been peeling. At this point, approximately 10% is gone. Has
anyone had any similar experiences? There appears to be no damage to the
paint. Can the clearcoat be stripped and reapplied without repainting?
Thanks for any help and just for listening.
