Re: 1/4 time w/ Veracom VC-200

Ahhh, I believe I can help here. One thing most of the modified Talons
on the internet know how to do is to drag race (don't leave yet). _The_
best way to "launch" an AWD turbo car is by slipping the clutch. Let me
explain. If you slip the clutch and take off normally, you have to wait
for the boost to build up before you can really get going, this is not
the best way. Second senario, rev the engine to 5K, drop the clutch,
revs drop to 2-3K, wait a second, then you take off hard. Why the second
wait, you had to wait for the boost to build up again. Third senario, if
you balance the clutch right with full throttle at 4-5K rpms, you should
be able to build boost quickly and not lose it. Takes some practice
here. Slip the clutch too much, and you won't launch as hard as you
could, slip it not enough, and you'll lose precious boost. This is why
Automatics have some advantage at the drag strip, in that they can
leave the line with boost built up, ever remember reading about
launching Syclones or Typhoons. Also, while this is hard on clutches, it's
much easier on the drivetrain, not as much shock. So, Graydon, you probably
did get a better run when you slipped the clutch.
