Re: Rebuilt A/C comps from PAP...good idea?

Before you replace it be s u r e its going. I was told by a mechanic I
trusted(not dealer) that I needed a replacement because of an unusual sound.
In looking for alternative (cheaper) mechanics, I took my 87 5kcsTQ to an A/C
specialist who examined it , commented "oh, a nippondenso"! Of course, I
asked why the comment-he claimed these are very good units, last along time.
Best of all he did a thorough check of the unit, I think he "lubed
something", adjusted the belt (wasn't making the typical loose belt sound),
told me I didn't need a new compressor, and $30 later was happily on my way.
That was at about 150,000 miles. I'm now approaching 190,000 and still
working fine.
