'89 200 TQ Fuel pump?

  I am looking at an '89 200 TQ, 80k mi, heated sport seats, champaigne 
colored paint, and its in good condition. The only thing that worries me 
about this car, is that the fuel pump makes a loud whirring noise. If you 
turn up the AC or the radio you can't heaer it, but it still bugs me that 
it is there. I could live with the noise, but is the noise indicitive of 
future failure? If so, what kind of repair bill would I expect for  new 
pump and labor?
