Broken Sunroof, long oily rod like things !!!

     Hi
     
        my sunroof is a little broken. Every time I open it (manually that 
     is, the motor thingy is long busted) I pull out log metal rod like 
     things and oily metal cogs. I don't want to fix it just keep it 
     tightly closed. I thought about welding it shut and then caulking the 
     car roof\sun roof join. Duct tape works fine but it doesn't look very 
     cool though. Does duct tape come in black ????
     
     Any suggestions ?
