Red Hot Turbos (Wrap the exhaust)

For all you owners with turbos, take a look at the exhaust manifold (in a dark garage) after 
driving the  car hard under boost. The exhaust manifold and inlet to the Turbo glow  cherry 
red! I checked my car after a friend pointed out his "red" turbo housing on his Volvo turbo after
we made a hard run down the freeway.

It is no wonder the early turbos without water cooling burn up and coke the oil after being shut
off after a hard run. It alarmed me the first time I noticed the glowing exhaust on my 
86 5000CS Turbo, I used to let it idle after a hard run "most" of the time but now I make a habit
of letting it idle every time.
