Consider using (if you don't already) a high-quality synthetic motor oil;
they can take the heat better and don't "coke" up like regular oils. I have
used Amsoil 100% synthetic 10W30 in all my cars, and highly recommend it.
Their oils withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees. In fact, one of their
brochures shows a glowing hot exhaust manifold that was running 64 hours, and
the oil's viscosity only changed 8%! (Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch
- it's not!)
So, if I was running a turbo, I would definitely be using a synthetic oil. In
fact, you may not have to run the car afterward to cool the turbo if using a
synthetic, or at least, not as long. (It would be better if you did run it,
but you wouldn't feel as guilty about not doing it if you were in a rush, and
couldn't wait.)
((No flaming please; I have no vested interest in Amsoil; and I don't sell
it.... hey, we've already been through this discussion. Let's not have
another one!))
