RE: Consumer reports
I would definitely have to agree with those of you who feel that CR is
"blind" to what is really going on out here. (Or at least, they project an
unrealistic picture.) And I have personally disproven their "List of Cars to
Avoid". I have owned two Pontiacs that were on their list (a 1984 Pontiac
6000 and a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville) and had great experiences with both of
them. Both of them were highly reliable, and I drove them both over 100k
miles with no major problems (114k on the 6000, and 132k on the Bonneville)
and could have kept going but.... (no need to bore you).
So, I would have to agree that their reporting may not necessarily reflect
reality, and that people are blindly making decisions based upon their word.
Now, I only hope they are right re: my '92 100S. They highly recommended it
as being very reliable, and a "BEST BUY" in the $15-20k range of used cars.
But if they were wrong re: my two Pontiacs, I may be in serious trouble......
(No, I didn't blindly buy my Audi based upon their recommendation, in case
you were thinking that.)
