Noisy Air Pump

Friends...lately the alternator (lower unit, passenger side, yes the 
air hose is still present funneling air from grill into unit) is 
making an increasing amount of noise.  I think the bearings are 
singing their "death song".  Car: 1990-200, 65K miles.  Otherwise, 
the thing is working great.

Anyone had luck with just replacing bearings in these?  Or at 65K, it 
seems to me that bearings and brushes might be in order.....
