Re: How safe is above normal boost?
Hey Y'all,
Unless someone has figured out how to reprogram a PROM without rmoving it
from the board, the SuperChips "mods" do not involve any PROM changes at
all. My SuperChips "modified" PROM, in my '89 200TQ, has never been removed
and resoldered. A much stiffer wastegate spring was supplied and a zener
diode/resistor combo has been installed in the ECU, but the PROM has not
been changed. The zener limits the pressure transducer output to a voltage
equivalent to what would be indicated as about 1.3 bar on the in dash gauge.
I now have about 30K miles on it with no boost related problems (yet) except
for a failed hose from the turbo to the intercooler. BTW, anyone have a
source for a stronger direct replacement hose for this application? Up to
22 psi of boost seems to be a bit much for the stock rubber.
Any info I have about TcrAP and IA is merely hearsay from the list.
