When my '86 5ks wagon needed shocks, I too wanted to get the Boge but
happened to walk in to the local shop here and KYB's were on sale. What
the heck, I got 'em, free use of the spring tool too, lifetime warranty,
blah, blah, blah....

They've been on the car now 10K miles and are just fine. Sure I could
have payed 2x for the Boge, maybe get them out of stock (maybe not), and
perhaps have them be the wrong ones. I went with the local shop. Nice
guys, great advice, problems fixed quickly.

Now, I have the same story as Bob D. with Gabriel Silver E's on my yvehC
K3500. They would literaly fall apart after 600 or so miles of highway
use. I replaced them 3 times and finally went with Rancho 9000 which
have done remarkably well after 15K miles.

I guess the only lesson here is, don't make your decision based on the
anecdotal evidence of one or two examples. I wouldn't buy Gabriels
again but that doesn't mean you couldn't.

Come to think of it, I said that about Pirelli's back in 1977 but just
got a set of Winter 190's for the 5k. We'll see how that works out....

PS: Notice that that last name is German. Isn't that a requirement for
owning a German automobile. What happened to you other guys? :-)
