Bzzzzzrrrrrrt. :-) Wrong, Jeff. The average molecular weight of air is
approximately 29 g/mol. (N2 = 28, O2 = 32, 20% O2 and 80% N2 --> ~ 29
average.) The molecular weight of propane (C3H8) is 44 g/mol. Under the
same conditions of pressure and temperature, propane is 44/29 or
approximately 1.5 times as dense as air. However, your recommendation is
still valid. But, beware! The propane will tend to settle at the lowest
point and can continue to be a fire/explosion hazard for quite a while
unless you are outdoors and have a decent (or at least some) breeze.
