Went to a Blaupunkt dealer today to get my Blaupunkt deck fixed (stuck tape, 
broken spring), and to get my new CD-changer. I have also been wanting to have 
the RDS and other information up in the dash display as it is with the Audi Gamma 
radio. So, I asked the radio guru if it was possible. He said nope, none of the 
Blaupunkt stereos have this possibility. It's specially made for the Audi 
systems, on request from Audi. Opel (German GM car) has the same on some of their 
radios, but different signal to the dash display.
Since I never take "no" for an answer, I wanted a second opinion. I called the 
Blaupunkt importer/distributor. Same answer. To be quite sure, I also called the 
biggest VAG dealer over here, which also is the importer. No way, they had also 
been trying to do this, since they often get new cars wihout radios (don't ask 
why). So, guess we'll have to choose between CD or dash display, until Audi comes 
up with some new decks. If you discover otherwise, please notify me.

Anyway, this is not a new feature in Germany. My car is a 93 model, made 10/92 
and first registered in Germany 12/92. It had the Gamma/Bose setup originally, 
with the RDS/frequency info in the dash display. I got the car from Germany in 
95, and changed the deck to be able to use the CD-changer.
