Quattro wins another over 4WD!!
Snowy greetings from 9" of fresh North Carolina powder!!
Since my last posting of snow driving advise, I wanted to pass on a funny
encounter today. Things have let up a bit, and I wanted to go by NTW for my
warranty alignment since I kissed the curb on Saturday. Actually that "kiss"
was a French Kiss!! I thought I slid into it fairly hard. Good news,
according to NTW specs, its still in aligment!!!
Prior to them looking at it, they were not sure they wanted to do it due to
the snowy/icy hill as you drive up to the bay. The aligment dude, "Bubba"
had just pushed a Mercedes 450SL away and under his breath said "German
junk!!!!" I heard this and charmed him a bit knowing my 200tq was next.
Bubba advised me that he had just tried to get a Chevy Blazer into the bay
but couldn't. In my charming I told him to go ahead and try. (What the
hell, they have insurance, it's 6 years old and red, so it could use a paint
job from the faiding). Well, I am proud (and not suprised) to say that baby
just went into the bay with no problem. He even had to stop with the rear
wheels still about 3-5 feet before the cement foundation. Needless to say,
Bubba was suprised and said, "ya, I heard these all wheel drive cars had good
traction".
Just another chapter in the education of America to the benefits of quattros.
