Snow in Dixie!!!!
Hello to all,
Glad to be back on the net, but not as glad to be back at school. We
ll, us southerners actually got snow this weekend!!!! Yup, we had a few inches
in Atlanta (and a lot of ice, gotta look out for that stuff). And, it pretty m
uch shut down the city for a day or too. The Quatto system makes driving on sn
ow a piece of cake. I went out Sunday morning and drove around in it. Man, th
e Quattro is so much fun!! I had seen what looked like a red Audi 100 in my ne
ighbors driveway a few days ago, but Sunday morning I saw him playing around in
the snow as well and found out that it was really an S4 quattro!!!! What a kil
ler car man! It had custom wheels and performance tires on it too. Anyways.
I saw it again in the local grocery store parking lot. Really a beautiful car.
Is it just me or do Quattro's not only look better, but are more fun to drive o
n snow! Unfortunately we only get around one snowfall a year in Atlanta, and i
t's usually a only a few inches.
Well, Sunday afternoon I had to drive back to South Carolina (I go t
o school at USC in Columbia, SC) and I got to drive most of the way in snow. I
-285, the main bypass around Atlanta was a mess. Lots of snow on the highway a
nd many patches of ice. Traffic was moving very slow and there were several ac
cidents. Then when I got around to the otherside of Atlanta (I live on the Nor
th side) it was evident that there was less snow to the Southeast of Atlanta.
Once I got on I-20 and out of Atlanta the roads cleared up and the roads were p
retty dry, although there was snow all the way up into South Carolina. There w
as no snow in Columbia, but there were some flurries last night. It was cold a
s hell here today (remember us country folk ain't used to that cold weather tha
t you yankees are more used to). Anyways, this was a big event for us down her
e and fun for me since it was the first time I had driven my Quattro on snow.
BTW, the car is a 5000CS Turbo Quattro and it is a great all weather car. I kn
ow that it is great in the rain, and now I know that it is great in the snow to
o! Anyways, just thought I'd give a report from down here. I heard you yankee
s are getting a lot of snow up in New England and New York. I hope it's not to
o bad. Well, I hope y'all had a good Christmas and a Happy New Years, and it's
good to be back on the net.
Later,
Dan
